a bit about me

Cross-disciplinary training in clinical psychology, developmental psychology, and cognitive neuroscience.

I received my PhD in the joint Clinical-Developmental Psychology program at the University of Pittsburgh, working under the incredible mentorship of Dr. Jennifer Silk. During graduate school, I also trained in the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition (CNBC). My research sits at the intersection of developmental psychology, clinical psychology, and neuroscience. I integrate multiple methods across different levels of analysis in my work, including fMRI, ecological momentary assessment (EMA), and eye-tracking. To learn more about my research interests, please see the "Research" page of this site. Clinically, I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families across a range of settings (e.g., outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization programs, therapeutic schools, and inpatient hospital settings). My clinical training has been highly influential for my research (and vice versa), and I strive to use my research and clinical training to improve the lives of teens and families.

Committed to equity, inclusivity, and anti-racism in my research, teaching, and mentoring.

One of my goals is to help make the field of clinical psychological science more diverse and inclusive through my research, pedagogy, and mentorship. I believe that improving diversity and promoting anti-racism in clinical science is critical and can have downstream effects on reducing inequities in mental health outcomes (see Galán et al., 2021). I am proud of my involvement with Scholars for Elevating Equity & Diversity (SEED) - please see our website for more info.

Outside of the lab, you can find me taking long walks, exploring Charlottesville's farmers markets and vineyards, spending time with family and friends, listening to true crime podcasts, watching thriller movies, reading historical fiction, exploring new restaurants, and tending to my houseplants (read: trying to keep them alive).
